A traditional estate sale is a two-day event. Ours is a short project: a few weeks to list everything, then a few months of steady selling while you get on with your life. Here is what actually happens.
We come to the house, in Los Angeles or Ventura County, and go room by room. You tell us what is for sale. The family writes down what it is keeping and signs that list before we tag anything. You can add to it later. We leave with a rough count and give you a written estimate of what the contents could bring.
Each item gets a numbered tag, photographs, measurements, and a price based on what the same thing actually sold for recently, not what people are asking. It all goes into a shared spreadsheet you can open at any time. Nothing moves out of the house. We set up one room as the staging area and work from there.
Collectibles, clothing, shoes, decor and anything that ships go on eBay to buyers across the country, from an eBay account in your name that we run for you. Furniture, rugs and large pieces sell locally for pickup. Prices step down on a schedule you approve, and never below a floor you set. Fine art and sculpture that belongs at auction goes to an auction house instead, such as Bonhams, John Moran, Abell, LAMA or Heritage Auctions, depending on the piece.
We are at the house two or three times a week to pack sold items and hand them to the carrier, and to host local pickups with you or a family member there. Every two weeks you get a statement: each item, what it sold for, the fees, your share, and the eBay link so you can check any line yourself. eBay pays you directly. You pay us our 25% from money you already have.
After the sale, or by a deadline you set, anything unsold stays with you. If you'd like, we can help arrange a charity pickup with a receipt for your taxes, or point you to an estate liquidation company for a final clear-out. We don't haul items away ourselves.
